Radon Remediation for Small Home in Knoxville, Iowa

This simple family just wanted to protect their kids and would like to consider it as an investment for their health. They had a continuous radon monitor and the levels kept increasing as the months gone by. It went up to 34 pCi/L which is not livable. We did recommend a radon test for assurance but the clients decide to mitigate without having second thoughts. They were worried for the health of the kids, probably the reason why their kids were getting sick the past few months at least. The team did explain the process and simplest system we could offer. They took it under a payment plan and they were happy how it turned out!

Radon Mitigation Install in Knoxville, Iowa

This home was an initial challenge as their radon levels were reading around 45 to 60. The tech ended up using the sniffers and set them around the house to which levels averaged around 20. This was after the house was vented out and all the windows were pretty much open prior to me showing up indicating that levels are even higher than 20 and most likely similar to the Ecoblue radon monitor that was there. Originally talked about a two-point system and an ERV for the home but the client did not take on the ERV for now, and wanted to see how the system played out first.

There are two unfinished areas one of which is in the front of the house and the other one is in the back of the house. The back of the house is a berm home so the only option was a two-point system, one of which in the slab vertically and a second one in horizontally for the split level of the home. Here's where the challenge begins there is a plumbing stock as well as a gas line that runs up on the side of the wall that can be accessed in the crawl space homeowner said will be able to see this from the crawl space as a homeowner installed the gas line himself. The team had a talk with the homeowner on how things would be due to this and the homeowner was very flexible in terms of the installation procedure so everything went smoothly in the end.
