Radon Mitigation - Kingsley, IA
This was a simple installation for a couple in Kingsley, IA. They were new to the whole radon situation, so they figured to give it a chance since it's for the betterment of their health. The installation started at one point in the utility room and a secondary point to pull under the crawlspace liner. The crawlspace situation was extremely untidy, so the team suggested encapsulation to which they agreed. They didn't even know Iowa Radon Defense can offer that service and they were happy that we did. The couple was happy with how it turned out!

Concerned by the potential health risks associated with radon exposure, this family proactively sought out Radon Defense Midwest to mitigate radon levels in their newly purchased home. They had an unfinished basement, and their radon levels tested at 14. It was high and pretty risky since they have kids. We recommended the good spots for them to start with the installation and everything came to order.
Radon Mitigation - Boyden, IA
The homeowner was indeed nice and is working as a middle or high school teacher. It was hectic when the team showed up as his two sons needed to leave for practice. The wife was there briefly since they were trusting in what the team needed to do. The technicians had a challenge with their sump lid as it was stuck due to a mix of dirt and concrete. They had a work around to drill holes to perforate the pit liner walls. The system was installed in the garage.
Radon Mitigation - Hospers, IA
This shy client had a huge, colorful that needed help with remediation since her home test returned with high levels. She prefers the system to be installed in the garage as that is where she spends most of her time working and sometimes even bonding moments with family. There was a lot of clutter but she was willing to move it all. There was enough space for access and everything turned out smoothly. She was happy!

How to Live with Radon?
This client lives in very old farm house with an unfinished basement used for storage and it was full of cobwebs. We did advise her that it's not healthy keeping it that way. She requested a radon test before starting anything returned with a level of 6.2 in her basement and shocked as she has never tested before. She was feeling nauseous the past few weeks so it bothered her that it might be the high radon levels. She got a free estimate and the team saw that the home had an inaccessible crawlspace on one side, the other side has a garage that is now a finished living space. She had a small porch with conditioned air is slab on grade on front of house. The slab appears to be in good condition and no major cracks. The installation will be a sub slab extraction point on back corner of basement, second point horizontally to pull from old garage, exit house via rim joist, install muffler and route up. She was happy with this decision and will contact us back for duct cleaning!
