Building a New Home with a Radon Mitigation System
The client was in the process of building their dream home when their contractor mentioned the importance of radon mitigation in the area. Since radon was a known issue locally, they decided to include a mitigation system as part of the construction process. By installing the system during the build, they avoided future disruptions and ensured the home was safe from the start. The client was pleased to have taken a preventive measure that aligned with their commitment to creating a healthy environment.
Radon Mitigation - Pella, IA
This couple were genuinely nice. The husband used to farm and then worked in IT. They have an acreage and had been concerned with radon for a long time as they believe his mom died from radon lung cancer. He installed a mitigation system himself back in the late 80s at this house, but he is not that confident if it was effective. The fan is in the basement ceiling and vents right outside the basement door about 7' above the concrete. He said the fans still run. It draws from the sump pit which also has plumbing and line and something else that lead to it. Sealed up and not accessible. The team had some discussions with the husband about options to utilize for a new extraction point if that's possible instead of near footing in that room. Two chambers, there's a large addition that is finished upstairs with a workshop below with a garage door. The installation turned out fine and he was happy that he spoke to a radon professional!

High Radon Levels in Pella, Iowa
This is an interesting layout as homeowner has elevated radon levels so needed two points in their utility room. The closet is where homeowner would like us to talk the interior system in. Piping will most likely go through the right-hand side of the closet - she agreed with that. Looked the access in the garage and there is room for us to come up through the ceiling but there is plywood on the left-hand side when looking up in the attic. We are going to need to core through that plywood through the small Eve section of the house to vent it up and around the roof line. Everything was done perfectly and set of expectations were met with the homeowner.

Radon Mitigation Installed for Newborn Baby
Kenzie and her husband just had a baby girl 2 weeks ago and bought the house about a year ago. A previous charcoal test kit (radon test) came back with levels of 11, our Eco Blue Monitor was showing a 5.5 but near an exterior door and window. The home had a mostly-finished basement and an inaccessible crawlspace. They didn't have a sump pit, so the best option to do was a sub slab extraction point in closet of guest room on backside of house and core through wall to exit, place fan and run up and around soffit. They have two friendly dogs, a golden retriever and golden doodle. Kenzie was very nice, as was her mom who was there helping with the baby. Everything went smooth as silk! Clients are happy!

Radon System Installed After Waterproofing Project Wraps Up
During a recent waterproofing project, a homeowner also had a radon inspection and testing completed. High levels were found, but the mitigation system had to wait until the waterproofing work was finished. Once the space was ready, our team stepped in to install a radon system tailored to the newly sealed environment. By waiting for the right timing, the customer ensured both waterproofing and radon mitigation would work seamlessly together. Now, the home is protected from both water intrusion and radon gas—delivering long-term peace of mind.
